Description of evidence and how it demonstrates the standard(s):
In my Teaching Reading class, I participated in an Action Research Project, in which I hoped to answer the question: do digital tools and technology actually promote better student learning of literacy? Through research, I had hoped to discover whether students actually learn to read and write better as well as become more engaged in their learning of literacy with the help of technology and if so, I wished to know what types of tools out there that are effective.
Implication for Future Teaching:
My research for this project was merely secondary, since I was unable to perform any action research on this topic. Thus, my methodology and findings were hypothetical. Through this research, however, I learned that technology integration in the classroom does indeed promote better learning of reading and writing, as well increase classroom motivation and engagement. Additionally, I learned that there are a wide range of tools and programs that help the learning of literacy among diverse learners. This was a professional project, and I presented the findings of my research to my class in a professional manner.
I found great information through this project that will affect my future teaching. I learned that technology helps with the learning of literacy, it engages and meets the needs of all learners, and it helps prepare students for the 21st century workplace. I hope to use the various digital tools I learned through my research to provide the learning experience my students need to succeed. It is important to take the time to understand students in their learning of literacy in the classroom. Lastly, I learned a great deal about professional development from this project, realizing that learning is a life-long process. While my study was hypothetical, I feel confident that I could perform another research in the future, perhaps an action research, so as to discover more valuable information that will help me succeed in my teaching profession as well as help my students and their learning needs.
