Description of evidence and how it demonstrates the standard(s):
I wrote a paper for one of my classes titled, Teaching Writing through Literature, in which I researched and wrote about how to effectively teach reading and writing in integration. At the end of the paper I included a “Teacher Implication” section, which describes how I would apply what I learned from writing this paper to my future Language Arts classroom in order to create an effective classroom environment.
Implication for Future Teaching:
My professor required our class to include a “Teacher Implication” section at the end of our papers. We were asked to explain how we would apply what we learned from our papers into our future classrooms. This was our opportunity to describe what we would like our future classrooms to look like and what we would like to do with our class. I very much enjoyed my own grade school Language Arts class, so I wrote that I would like my future classroom to have a similar environment. My grade school class was fun, interactive, engaging, and memorable.
I wish to take what I have learned from the research of my paper as well as from my grade school Language Arts class to create an effective environment with my own future classroom. Both have taught me about the importance of providing plenty of opportunities for collaborative learning and positive social interaction. Choosing fun learning activities and games with reinforcements help engage and motivate student learning as well as help give meaning to the content. Allowing the students to have some autonomy in the classroom should help spark their interest and motivate their learning, as well. Thus, I hope to provide an effective learning environment for my students much like my own grade school Language Arts class.
